Honda Cars India might not have been topping the sales chart in recent times, but it is working towards expanding its domestic portfolio. The carmaker is known to launch a handful of interesting models in the upcoming time. In addition to petrol (ICE) vehicles, Honda will also launch EVs and hybrids this year. Here are five possible launches from Honda Cars India that are to be expected in the coming years.
Elevate EV
The first EV from Honda will likely arrive next year and will be based on the Elevate SUV. Currently, the Elevate is available only with a naturally aspirated 1.5L petrol engine. The EV, however, will give this SUV a whole new persona. Honda plans to launch EVs and hybrids (electrified models) in 2026-27. As many as three electrified vehicles are said to be on the cards, including EVs.
Honda is also working on a compact electric vehicle project called ACE. It expands to Asian Compact Electric. Expected to be out by 2026, 50-70 per cent of vehicles made here, will be exported to overseas markets including Japan. With the electric Elevate, Honda aims to give a competition to the likes of Hyundai Creta EV.
ZR-V Hybrid
Honda is also considering the ZR-V hybrid for India. The company seems to have a strong focus on electrification and on the introduction of hybrids. If launched, it will sit below the CRV SUV and compete with the Creta and Seltos. Recently, the vehicle was even showcased internally at a dealer meet.
Globally, the ZR-V is a crossover SUV based on the latest generation Honda Civic. It goes against the likes of the Corolla Cross. Even the powerhouse is shared with the sedan. In dimensions, the ZR-V is longer and wider than the Creta with a longer wheelbase as well. If launched, the India-spec ZR-V will likely be powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a manual and CVT automatic transmissions. It could be in a state to produce 180 hp, and might even have hybrid assist. Honda could also go with a smaller turbocharged 1.5L engine.
PF2-Based 7 Str SUV
The Japanese carmaker is also known to be working on a brand new 7-seater SUV based on the PF2 platform. This new architecture supports various body styles and powertrains- petrol and EV. Previous reports had suggested that the 3-row SUV will borrow design cues from the Elevate. Now, this turns out to be not the case anymore. Expect the production form of the 7-seater SUV to be out in October 2027. The powertrain is expected to come directly from the Elevate- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Sub-4 Meter Compact SUV
Honda will also launch a new sub-4 meter compact SUV in India. This will also be based on the PF2 platform. When launched, it will compete with the Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue. It will mostly be powered by Honda’s familiar 1.5-liter petrol engine. The sub-compact SUV will launch by 2029.
All New H0nda City
The City has been an extremely popular model in the Indian market. It is due for a full model change in 2027-28. The carmaker recently launched the Apex edition to keep the ball rolling until the new generation arrives. The sixth-generation City will be underpinned by the PF2 platform and will also have an all-new design. There will be a notable revamp in the equipment and cabin comfort on offer.
